Bedspreads usually reach all the way to the floor and are quilted with down or synthetic fibers. They are usually paired with a bed skirt because when you pull the bedspread back it leaves your box springs exposed. Bedspreads always are long enough to cover your pillows or tuck around the pillows for a more custom look.
Comforters cover just the mattress to the top of the box spring. Comforters are quilted with down or synthetic fibers. Quilting is done so that the down or fibers are evenly distributed throughout the comforter. You will need to have a bed skirt with a comforter as well.
Coverlets also just cover the mattress to the top of the box spring. But with coverlets you can tuck the coverlet and sheets around the mattress for a tailored modern look. Coverlets are ideal for platform beds. Coverlets can be used in conjunction with a comforter or bedspread as an accent blanket.
Duvets are an envelope for your down or synthetic fiber insert. Duvets are versatile in that you can just keep the duvet over the summer months without the insert and when winter arrives you can slide the insert into the duvet for warmth. Usually duvets and inserts are made with buttons on each of the corners so you can attach the insert to the duvet and it won’t slide around on the inside.
Bed skirts can be tailored for a modern contemporary feel or ruffled for a traditional look for your master suite.
